In a nutshell, here’s what we love about group work, and what we think you might hate:

1. It’s fun

We get it – while we genuinely enjoy talking all things mental health, brain, wellness, psychology and wellbeing related – we get that isn’t everyone’s idea of fun. But we really believe that our groupwork can be fun. When you come for an individual counselling or psychotherapy session, it’s generally straight down to the business of talk therapy.  But our groups have seen us do everything from art to ice bucket challenges!

2. The “so it’s not just me moments”

The absolute best part about group work is the “so it’s not just me moments”…When you realise that you aren’t the only one who has experienced that thought or feeling that was making you feel alone. Noticing that organically – unprompted from another human is pretty powerful. And can have a whole different impact to your psychologist, counsellor or therapist challenging you to consider that in an individual therapy session.

3. But…people are scary

Well not really. But so many of us walk around feeling scared of other people in some way. Scared of what their thinking, scared of their judgement, scared of being perceived by them.  The idea of sitting around in a group and talking about your inner most thoughts can seem pretty daunting to some people.  And we understand that  The best bit about our groups is they are absolutely 100 percent no pressure.  You don’t have to talk about anything in particular. You don’t even have to talk! Sometimes we are so busy doing other activities there isn’t even that much time to talk (although we will always make time for it when needed).  And hey while people sometimes seem scary, you might even learn that everyone else is feeling the same!
